Julia Receives NSF Graduate Fellowship April 8, 2013

Julia was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She is continuing her research to develop and understand fast hydrothermal liquefaction (FHTL) to produce biocrude from microalgae. More details about her work can be found here.

Peter received the Walter J. Weber Jr. Graduate Student Award in Environmental and Energy Sustainability. He was recognized for his significant research contributions to the field of hydrothermal liquefaction. College of Engineering 11th Annual Bowling Challenge March 7, 2013

This year we had two teams participate in the College of Engineering Bowling Challenge. “The Noble Gases” won best poster award thanks to Allison and Julia for their creative work. “The Element of Surprise” won the most charitable award, collecting over 70 food items for Food Gatherers of Ann Arbor. Thank you to the department and group members for donating!

This week we bid farewell to visiting student Yang Guo. Yang spent 1 year with the group investigating the catalytic gasification of indole in supercritical water. He will return to Xi-an JiaoTong University to complete his Ph.D.
